No Changes & A Baptism

Hola,

I don't have much time right now, but I just wanted to send you a quick message to let you know I'm alive.  The changes have come, and surprisingly enough, I'm not going anywhere, and neither is my companion.  However one of the elders from my district is leaving for a different area, and we were helping him get ready, and the time passed us by.  They decided to try out something different this time around, and aren't telling anybody where they are going, just that they have changes.  The only problem is that somebody updated the area where we report on the key indicators with the new companion information, so everybody is learning today where they are going, instead of having to wait until tomorrow.  I think it's actually an automatic update on Sunday, since we report Sunday to Saturday.  Still, if they keep up with this idea, they'll probably change when it updates.  It all depends on if they realize that it's changed.

Other than that, things are pretty good here.  We had a baptism this Saturday, and everything went more or less well. She had to be baptized three times, and it reminded me a lot of my baptism.  Still, we got her baptized eventually, and everything else was OK.  I'll try to pass alongs some pictures.  We also had an investigator that we've only visited one time come to church yesterday.  That almost never happens, so we were pretty exited to see her.  The best part is that she came with the help of her neighbor, who is a member.  It really goes to show the importance of the members in missionary work.

Ok, I think that's about it for me this week.  I got some new shoes (a million thank yous), and so far they're holding up pretty well.  I'm starting to get settled in here in my new area, and now that I know I don't have changes, I can finish putting everything away.  I'm sorry to hear that you got the flu.  I've heard it's a pretty bad one this year.  Sister Crickmore told us that if we come down with it we have to stay in the house until the fever goes away completely, so that we don't give it to children or elderly people.  The interesting thing is that we got vaccinated, but I guess they missed this strain in the vaccination that we received, so basically it does us no good what so ever. (whatsoever?)  Anyways, take care of yourself, and I'll talk to you next week.

Love,
Elder Samuel Long
